Dordt def. Waldorf 7-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
A two run fourth inning gave Dordt the lead for good on the way to a 7-1 non-conference win over Waldorf that gave the Defenders a sweep of play in Forest City, Iowa on Tuesday night.
Jennifer Kooiker knocked in a run with a single in the second inning but Waldorf scored one in the second inning to tie the game.
After a scoreless third inning Dordt took the lead on a Hailey Heeringa double followed by a Carley De Roin single. A Brooklyn Van Oort singled in De Roin and Dordt led 3-1.
Marissa Vanden Berg doubled in the fifth inning and later scored and she led off the seventh with double as well and scored on a Heeringa double. De Roin added to her rbi total with a grounder that scored Heeringa for the 7-1 final.
Rachel Evavold won the game in relief and went three and a third innings with no runs allowed with a strikeout and a base on balls.
Marlia Mundorf went three and two-thirds to start the game and allowed one run on six hits with a strikeout.
Marissa Vanden Berg was 3-4 with two runs scored a two doubles.
Hailey Heeringa had a pair of doubles and knocked in two runs and Carley De Roin had two runs batted in and two runs scored.
Dordt is 15-18 and Waldorf is now 12-26.
Dordt will host Briar Cliff on Wednesday starting at 4:00.
