HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt men's volleyball team completed it's Saturday double header with a 3-0 sweep over Viterbo.
The Defenders shot off to a 9-3 lead after taking advantage of a few early Viterbo errors. Dordt eventually took the first set 25-11.
Viterbo trailed 13-10 halfway through set two and looked poised to make a run. Dordt responded with a 12-4 run of its own to win set two 25-14.
Viterbo took the lead right away in set three. The Defenders fought back had took a 16-15 advantage before the V-Hawks called a timeout. Dordt kept its foot down and walked away with the 25-21 victory.
Ben Tiemersma led the way again for Dordt with 10 kills. Garret Vander Zee mustered six of his own.
Tyler Postma had 19 assists and six digs.
Austen Scammon had nine digs to led Dordt.
Jacob Nonn had eight kills to lead the V-Hawks.
Chris Kahler had seven kills and four digs.
Andrew Lepage had 18 assists and 12 digs.
COACH HANSON SAID
“We began this match with the highest sense of urgency that we’ve had all season. The endurance test of that urgency showed up in the third set and we are trilled to have closed that set out with a victory and end the match. Another great confidence boost for us as we build on to offensive and defensive system pieces that we will rely heavily upon when we return to our conference schedule this week.”
Dordt will face off against Morningside on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Sioux City.
