HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College hockey team finished a difficult season on a high note with a 3-0 victory over Creighton on Saturday.
After losing 9-0 the night before, the Blades responded with a strong defensive effort. Bryce Andry was in net for Dordt and earned the shutout despite facing 47 shots.
No goals were scored in the first period, but Dordt had numerous opportunities. The Blades began finding the back of the net midway through the second. Rylan Brue finished off a Jaren Brue assist to break the 0-0 deadlock.
Caleb Groot scored the second goal one minute later to stretch the Dordt lead to two.
Rylan Brue finished off another Jaren Brue assist a few minutes later to cap off the scoring for the Blades and secure the victory.
Bryce Andry played all 60 minutes and had 47 saves.
The win was Groot's and Keaton De Jong's last regular season game of their careers.
Coming in to the game, Dordt was ranked 15 and Creighton was three.
