HOW IT HAPPENED
After losing handily on Friday night to Hope College, the Blades traveled to South Bend, Indiana to take on Notre Dame and finish out their three game road trip. The Blades managed a 5-5 tie, their first game without a loss this year.
Notre Dame scored three first period goals to give themselves a comfortable lead heading into the second.
All five Blades goals came in the second period. Mark Schouten scored first five minutes into the period to pull Dordt within two. Two minutes later, Rylan Brue finished off a Seth Vandergugten assist to halve the Blades deficit. Vandergugten tied the game with eight minutes to play.
Keaton De Jong and Vandergugten each scored to end the second and give Dordt a two-goal lead.
Notre Dame managed to find the back of the net twice in the last three minutes of the game to force a tie.
Bryce Andry was in net for all three periods and faced 73 shots.
Dordt managed 32 shots on net.
Dordt will play Missouri State at home on Friday at 8:00 p.m.
