HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College men's hockey team struggled in the second game of their back-to-back series against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Blades scored first, but the Huskers responded with seven unanswered goals to take the 7-1 victory. The defeat dropped the Blades record to 0-6.
Mark Schouten finished a Caleb Koomans assist with five minutes left in the first to take the 1-0 lead.
Nebraska's Alex Robb scored the first of his three goals with 39 seconds left in the first to tie the game. Five second period goals stretched the Nebraska lead to 6-1.
Robb scored the first two and Steve Doll, Cody Walters and Ben Raymond each had one. Evan Johnson finished off the scoring on a power play goal with nine minutes left in the third.
The Blades were outshot 47-27.
David Burns and Sam Kingma shared time in net. Burns faced 28 shots and gave up five goals. Kingma faced 19 and surrendered two.
The Blades will travel to Colorado on Thursday and take on Colorado Springs at 10:15 p.m.
