THE MEET

The Dordt College women’s cross country returned to action at the Dean White Invite in Crete, Nebraska on Saturday, September 22 on the Doane University campus.

Dordt totaled a 56 to win the event while Hastings was second with 66 points.

Dordt had four runners in the top-13 in the 154 runner field that included 14 teams.

Annecheina Knevelbaard ran second in 18:51 to lead the Defenders and was seven seconds out of the top spot.  Olivia Couch was right behind in fourth place and clocked a 19:18.

Dordt returns to action in two weeks when the Defenders will send competitors to the Briar Cliff Invite at McCook Lake, South Dakota and the NAIA Preview Meet at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

"It was a great day for the Defender women's cross country teams.  The women were led by Annechiena Knevelbard who was the runner-up and Olivia Couch who was 4th overall.  There were great races by several women on the team, highlighted by a solid finish by Danielle Van Zanten who was in the scoring five Defenders for the first time in her career."
