Dordt defeats St. Ambrose 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-18)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College’s volleyball team was in control Saturday night in winning a 3—0 match from St. Ambrose in Davenport, Iowa.
Dordt started the match with a 7-0 run and won the first set 25-16.
Set two was more of the same with Dordt getting out to a 9-2 lead and the difference was never closer than six in taking a 25-12 decision.
Set three saw St. Ambrose take its first leads of the contest at 1-0 and 2-1 but a five point run put the Defenders up 16-9 and the lead ballooned to as many as ten before the Defenders settled for the seven point win.
THE NUMBERS
The 15 players in uniform saw action in at least two of the sets for Dordt.
The Defenders hit for a .325 kill efficiency and had a 35-26 kills advantage.
Dordt totaled nine points on blocks to two for the Bees.
Leah Kamp put down 10 kills and Ema Altena had seven.
Jamie De Jager put up 23 assists and had three service aces.
Aubrey Drake accounted for 14 digs.
Ally Krommendyk led the blocking effort with one solo and four assisted blocks.

Dordt resumes GPAC play on Tuesday when the Defenders host Northwestern. The GPAC season continues on Saturday, September 16 with a road match against Dakota Wesleyan.
