Dordt took a 17-10 lead midway through set one and seemed to have it in hand with a 21-16 advantage before the Warriors staged a comeback scoring six out of seven points to tie the set 22-22. A timeout followed by an Ally Krommendyk kill stopped the run and Dordt eventually tied it at 10 ant took the lead for good at 12-11. Set three was never close as Dordt rolled to a 10-5 lead before adding runs of five, six and three points on the way to a 25-10 win. Dordt looked destined for another lopsided win in set four but a 13-4 barely held up as Corban got to within 13-11 and 14-12 before back to back points gave the Defenders a four point cushion that was never smaller than three on the way to 25-19 victory.

COACH HANSON SAID

“Corban went early and often to their outside hitters—combined they had 16 kills after the first set. The blocking and defensive adjustments we were trying to make—some of them were good adjustments we just needed to live them out better on the court. Later in the match we changed our defense and that was a beneficial change for us.”
