Dordt defeats Briar Cliff 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-20)


The Dordt Defender volleyball team fought off a pesky Briar Cliff team in set one of their match on Wednesday night and swept the Chargers with a progressively stronger offensive attack in sets two and three.

Dordt started the match with a 25-21 win in set one, overcoming a .171 kill efficiency with six errors in the set.

Set two and three went Dordt’s way 25-16 and 25-20 as Briar Cliff was unable to build substantial leads or momentum in either set.

Dordt had 14 kills in both sets two and three and had just one attack error in set three with a .419 kill efficiency as the Defenders pulled away from a 15-15 tie for the five point win.


Ema Altena had 13 kills and a .429 kill efficiency with just one error.

Lydia Smits added eight kills and Leah Kamp had seven.

Jamie De Jager put up 32 assists and had four block assists.

Jessi De Jager had a team high six blocks.

Aubrey Drake got to 17 digs.

Dordt had an 8-4 points off of blocks advantage.

Briar Cliff had three ace serves and Dordt two.

Dordt had a 40-33 kills edge.

Dordt is now 20-2 overall and 13-0 in the GPAC.

Briar Cliff is 11-11 overall and 5-8 in the GPAC.


Dordt will face Mount Marty on Saturday at 5:00 in Sioux Center.
