Dordt defeats Doane 3-0 (25-22, 25-13, 25-23)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt went to 8-0 in GPAC play with a 3-0 sweep of the Doane Tigers in volleyball at the De Witt Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Dordt started with a.432 kill efficiency in set one and blasted its way to a 25-22 win, scoring four of the last seven points to fight off a Doane rally that had the Tigers within 20-18. Kills by Ema Altena and Jessie De Jager put the Defenders in control late in the set.
Set two was all Dordt as the Defenders scored eight out of nine points for a 9-3 lead. After a service error to get it to 9-4 the Defenders scored six of the next seven points to extend the lead to 15-5. Dordt finished the set with seven out of eight points for a 25-13 win.
It appeared Dordt would breeze through with a sweep win while building a 14-7 lead but the Tigers cut the lead to 19-16. The momentum continued to swing to Doane and the Tigers tied it 23-23. Back to back kills by Altena ended the set and the match 25-23.
Dordt had a .323 kill efficiency with Doane at .132.
Dordt had a 38-31 kills advantage and had a 10-1 points of blocks edge.
Both teams had five ace serves.
Leah Kamp had nine kills and three block assists.
Ema Altena had eight kills and six digs.
Jessi De Jager had seven kills and Julia Lindbergh had six kills.
Ally Krommendyk had five block assists and Jamie De Jager had two solo and four block assists.
Dordt is now 8-0 in the GPAC and 14-2 overall. Doane slides to 2-6 in the league and 9-11 overall.
Dordt will host Viterbo in a non-confernce tilt on Tuesday, October 2.
