Dordt defeats Mount Marty 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-11)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College Defender volleyball team improved to 1-0 in GPAC play and 6-1 overall with a 3-0 win over the Mount Marty Lancers in Yankton, South Dakota on Tuesday night.
The Defenders controlled set one from start to finish, using a 5-1 run to start the set and a 7-0 run late to secure a 25-12 win.
Set two saws the teams fight to an 8-8 tie before an Ema Altena kill spurred Dordt to a 3-0 run and the Lancers were never closer than two the rest of the set. Dordt won it 25-14 on a service error.
A 14-2 run to start set three took the suspense out of the contest and Dordt was a 25-11 winner.
Dordt piled up 11 points on blocks and six with ace serves.
Dordt had a .292 kill efficiency and recorded 39 kills.
Altena had 11 kills and five digs with six block assists.
Jamie De Jager had 29 assists, four kills and seven digs with four block assists.
Leah Kamp and Jessi De Jager each had seven kills.
Aubrey Drake got to 21 digs and had two service aces.

“I think this is one of the strongest starts for us in conference in terms of playing good, energized and fluid volleyball. I really liked how gritty we were.”
Dordt will travel to face no. 2 ranked Grand View in Des Moines on Friday night before traveling on to meet St. Ambrose on Saturday night in Davenport, Iowa.
