HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defender volleyball team bounced back from its first loss of the season with a 3-0 win over William Woods (Missouri) on Friday afternoon in Bellevue, Nebraska.

The Defenders controlled the match from the start and won the first set 25-19 and followed that with a 25-23 win in set two and a 25-17 win in set three to secure the win.

THE NUMBERS

Dordt had a 45-32 kills advantage and recorded a .220 kill efficiency.

The Defenders had four ace serves to William Woods’s one and Dordt got seven points off of blocks to William Woods’s six.

Ema Altena had 11 kills and Leah Kamp 10.

Julia Lindbergh and Ally Krommendyk each had seven kills.

Jamie De Jager had 31 assists and ten digs. De Jager had two ace serves.

Aubrey Drake had 14 digs and Hannah Connelly had nine.

“We responded well from our earlier match to bring a higher level of execution in all skill areas. This match was also fun for us to see everyone contributing throughout the duration. With day one completed in this high powered tournament, we anticipate a great couple of matches tomorrow.”
