HOW IT HAPPENED

Dordt needed a three-point basket with less than two seconds remaining in regulation to upend Jamestown on Wednesday night, February 6 on the road.

Dordt led most of the second half after falling behind 11-4 early in the game.  The Defenders took their first lead of the game with 13:21 left in the first half on a Zach Bussard basket for a 15-14 lead.

Dordt got up by as many as four after an Alec Henrickson basket with 9:37 left for a 26-22 lead and the game was tied at 31, 34, 43 and 45 as the two teams traded baskets in a half when both teams converted better than 50 percent from the floor.  Dordt managed to take a 51-49 halftime lead on Franken three-point shot.

Dordt expanded the lead to six in the second half only to have the Jimmies come back to tie the game at 72 and 77.

Dordt re-established control at 94-86 as Dordt went on a 7-0 run capped by a Franken basket with 2:42 left.

Jamestown put together a run of its own and took advantage of a 8-0 run to tie the game on a Kevin Oberweiser basket with :28 left.

Dordt ran the clock down and eventually found Franken for a top of the key three-point basket with 1.2 seconds remaining.  After three timeouts Jamestown inbounded to midcourt and got off a desperation attempt as the horn sounded that was off the mark.

COMPARISON

Dordt was 34-66 from the field and 13-28 from the arc and made 16-17 free throws.

Jamestown was 34-73 from the field and 14-33 from the three-point line.  Dordt limited Jamestown to 15-36 second half shooting.

Both teams had 36 rebounds.

Dordt had 15 turnovers to 13 for the Jimmies.

Franken matched a career high with 27 points on 10-15 shooting and he made five three-point baskets.

Ben Gesink had 14 poitns and three assists.

Chad Barkema had 13 points and six rebounds with three steals.

Jesse Jansma came off the bench to score 12 and had a team high four assists.

JAMESTOWN LEADERS

Oberweiser had 24 points and seven rebounds and scored 21 of his points in the second half.

Jon Purintun scored 19 –all in the first half and Jack Talley had 14
