HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College men’s soccer team gained an early 1-0 lead over Concordia on Saturday, but five unanswered goals by the Bulldogs resulted in Dordt's third loss in a row.
Gideon De Graaf scored the lone Dordt goal in the 19th minute.
Concordia’s Garrett Perry converted a penalty kick in the 26th minute to tie the game at one. Matthew Ho scored two minutes later off of a Roger De la Villa assist to give Concordia the 2-1 lead.
Concordia went scoreless for the next 27 minutes and held the lead heading into halftime.
The Bulldogs wasted no time on offense in the second half. Jack Arra scored in the 47th minute to give Concordia the 3-1 lead. David Carrasco scored four minutes later off of a Jack Arra assist.
Konrad Sinu finished off the scoring for the Bulldogs in the 78th minute to secure the 5-1 victory.
NUMBERS
Dordt goalkeeper Bryce Lindquist had six saves in the defeat.
Dordt was outshot 19-10 overall and 11-4 in shots on goal.
COACH ELGERSMA SAID
“We played really well in the first half and had some of our best passing of the season. We made some mistakes in the second half and Concordia made us pay.”
UP NEXT
Dordt will face Mount Marty at home at 3:15 on Wednesday in search of their second conference win.
