HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College men’s soccer team fell 4-2 to Jamestown on Wednesday.
Jamestown’s Ruben Zepeda found the back of the net two minutes into the game to give the Jimmies an early 1-0 lead.
Mika de Vin answered twelve minutes later to tie the game at one. Dordt was unable to keep the tie and Jamestown’s Ben Prochniak scored in the 25th minute off an Eric Fairtlough assist.
Jamestown added one more to their lead in the 44th minute. JJ Mowrey finished a Ruben Zepeda assist to give the Jimmies a 3-1 lead heading into halftime.
Ruben Zepeda scored his second goal of the match in the 54th minute to give Jamestown a 4-1 lead.
Mika De Vin did his best to bring Dordt back into the game with his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute, but it wasn’t enough. The loss dropped Dordt to 1-2 in conference play.
Dordt goalkeeper Seth Lewison had 4 saves in the match.
Jamestown outshot Dordt 14-10 overall and 8-6 in shots on goal.
COACH ELGERSMA SAID
"It was a physical match, a hard fought 90 minutes. Jamestown was able to play quickly and execute well on a couple set pieces and that was the difference."
Dordt will play at Concordia at 3:30 on Saturday in another GPAC contest.
