HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College men’s varsity soccer team lost a 2-0 decision to Bethel (Indiana) in the second game of their back-to-back home stand. Both teams used the first half hour of the first half to feel one another out, but a breakaway goal for Bethel in the 36th minute got their offense going.
Dordt threatened at the end of the first half when Jordan Brantsen put a shot off of the crossbar, but Bethel held the lead heading into the second half.
Tired legs started to show in the second half and a goal off of a corner kick in the 50th minute put Bethel ahead 2-0.
Dordt was unable to fight their way back into the game over the next forty minutes and the loss dropped their record to 2-2.
NUMBERS
Bethel outshot Dordt 18 to 5 overall and 13 to 3 with shots on goal.
Dordt goalkeeper Seth Lewison had 11 saves in the match.
COACH ELGERSMA SAID
"We played well, played with a lot of heart and used a lot of different guys in different spots. Certainly give Bethel credit as they played well from start to finish."
