Waldorf defeats Dordt 11-5
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt was unable to sustain the lead and fell to Waldorf in softball on Tuesday night in Sioux Center. The second game of the doubleheader was cancelled due to wet conditions.
Dordt got on the board with a solo homerun by Rachel Evavold but the Warriors got a run in the top of the second inning. Carley De Roin clubbed a two run homerun in the second inning for a 3-1 lead.
Dordt added to the advantage with two runs on three hits in the fourth inning with Krista Bousema knocking in two with a single.
The 5-1 lead wouldn’t hold up as the Warriors got five runs on five hits in the fifth to lead 6-5 and three more in the sixth and two more in the seventh made the final 11-5.
Hailey Heeringa was 3-3 with three singles and a run scored.
Five other Dordt players had one hit each. Evavold’s and DeRoin’s homeruns were the only extra base hits of the game.
Waldorf had a 15-8 hits advantage.
Natalie Vos took the loss after allowing 13 hits and striking out six in five and two-third innings.
Dordt is 18-16 this season and will host Briar Cliff on Wednesday starting at 5:00.
