Dordt defeats Bellevue 6-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt never trailed and beat Bellevue in its final game of its Spring Break trip 6-2 on Friday in Tucson, Arizona.
Dordt scored two in the first as Rachel Evavold knocked a triple to get one run in and another scored on an error.
Bellevue managed one run in the second inning and Dordt responded with another run in the bottom of the second as Ashley Williams came in on another error by the Bruins.
Bellevue got to within 3-2 with a run in the fourth inning but Dordt stretched it out with three runs in the fifth inning as the frame started with two hit batsmen.
Bellevue stranded two in the top of the sixth and another in the top of the seventh before Dordt prevailed by the four run margin.
Rachel Evavold had two hits and two runs batted in and got the pitching win with two strikeouts and six hits scattered over seven innings.
Ashley Williams had two hits for Dordt as well and Corinne May reached with a single and a walk.
Dordt had a 7-6 hits advantage and committed one error to two for Bellevue.
Dordt is now 11-8 and is scheduled to open GPAC play on Tuesday, March 20 against Mount Marty.
