Dordt defeats Viterbo 7-4
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt scored three early runs and then overcame a one run deficit to secure a 7-4 win over the Viterbo V-Hawks on Monday.
The Defenders scored three in the first on a bases loaded ground out along with a triple by Rachel Evavold and a single by Corinne May. Viterbo answered with a four run, four hit third inning to take a brief lead but Evavold again doubled in a run and later scored on an error for the lead run.
The Defenders put the game out of reach with two runs in the fifth on an error and a ground out.
Both teams had eight hits.
Viterbo committed three errors to Dordt’s two.
May had three runs batted in and Evavold had two.
Evavold had two hits as did Marissa VandenBerg.
Marlia Mundorf started the game and went five innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Natalie Vos worked the final two innings and struck out two batters and didn’t allow a hit.
