Hastings defeats Dordt 4-1

HOW IT HAPPENED

Hastings ended the Dordt College men’s soccer season with a 4-1 win in the quarterfinal round of the GPAC Post Season Tournament.

Hastings scored in the 31st and 41st minutes on goals by Tor Trosten to take a 2-0 lead.

The Defenders got within 2-1 going to halftime with a goal by Mason Faucett off an assist by Nathan Struyk.

Hastings added a goal in the 58th and another in the 68th for the 4-1 final.

THE NUMBERS

Hastings, the GPAC regular season champion, had a 12-4 shots on goal advantage and an 36-5 overall shots edge.

Hastings had a 10-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Seth Lewison had eight saves in goal for the Defenders.

Faucett’s goal was his eighth of the season which was second highest on the Dordt team this year.

Dordt finishes the year 8-11 while Hastings advances to the semifinals on Saturday with a 16-3 mark.
