Lindenwood Belleville defeats Dordt 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-21)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College went to Belleville, Illinois Friday night, March 30 and lost a league match 3-1 in men’s volleyball.
Dordt won set one 25-19 as the Defenders used a late 5-0 run to win the set. The run started with an Alex Durbin kill followed by a ball handling error. A Cobi Jones service and back to back blocks by the Defenders secured the six point win.
The Defenders rallied from an early deficit to tie set two 15-15. The hosts pushed the lead to 20-17 and Dordt was never closer than two the rest of the set in falling 25-21.
The Lynx seized the momentum and pushed out to a 17-9 lead after Dordt was down 8-6 early. The Defenders were unable to rally and fell 25-13.
Set three was tied 9-9 after a service ace but an 8-2 put the Lynx in control. Dordt got back to within four on several occasions but could get no closer and dropped the set 25-21.
Dordt was on the short end of a 53-34 kills difference and surrendered nine service aces while compiling six.
Dordt had an 11-5 points off of blocks advantage.
Ben Tiemersma had 11 kills and Alex Durbin had seven.
Kal Bryan had five kills and Tyler Postma had 31 assists.
Bryan, Jones and Shavon Barker all had four blocks.
Dordt will face Missouri Baptist on Saturday in St. Louis, Missouri.
