Ottawa defeats Dordt 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-20)


Day two of Dordt’s trip into Missouri and Kansas resulted in a 3-0 league loss for the Defenders in men’s volleyball at Ottawa (Kansas).

The Braves were 25-18 winners in set one and were in command of sets two and three on the way to 25-16 and 25-20 wins.


Alex Durbin had a team high eight kills for the Defenders.

Ben Tiemersma had five kills and Tristan Verduzco knocked down four.

Tyler Postma had 19 assists and Cobi Jones recorded five digs along with Mark Schussler.

Dordt hit .127 while Ottawa recorded a .330 kill efficiency.

Dordt is 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the league while Ottawa is 12-5 overall and 4-2 in the league.


“Streaky play was the theme of our match today. We had a few bright spots in our blocking and scrappy defensive pursuit. The timing and rhythm of our offense will need to continue to grow for us to be competitive against these veteran ranked teams. We look forward to playing at home this week on Thursday night.”
