Dordt defeats Dickinson State 3-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Defenders scored one run in three different innings to defeat Dickinson State Monday in Arizona.
Dordt got one run in the first on a Zach Fowler single that pushed a run in. Dordt’s next run came in the third when Andrew Randall scored on a Colton Van Otterloo sacrifice fly. The final run came in the fourth when Justin Silva tripled and then was pushed in on a Dillon Branderhorst double.
While Dordt was getting its three runs Brandon Fokkema was staying out of trouble as he scattered five hits and escaped a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the complete game shutout.
Dordt had an 8-5 hits advantage.
Josh Van Eps and Andrew Randall each had two hits. Van Eps’s hits were a pair of doubles.
Fokkema was the winner with five hits allowed with two walks and nine strikeouts.
