Dordt defeats Dakota Wesleyan 9-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed in getting a split in its doubleheader with Dakota Wesleyan on Thursday in Mitchell, South Dakota.
Summer Jansen’s double scored two runs in the first and Carley De Roin’s single scored a pair as Dordt scored four runs on five hits.
Sacrifice flies by Hailey Heeringa and Corinne May plated two more runs and three more runs in the fifth inning effectively put the game out of reach. Rachel Evavold had a run scoring double in the inning and Heeringa knocked in two more runs in the fifth inning.
Dakota Wesleyan got its two runs in the fifth inning with two hits and the Tigers took advantage of two errors.
Dordt had a 14-5 hit advantage.
Rachel Evavold had two doubles and Summer Jansen had one.
Evavold was 3-5 with three runs scored and Hannah Sikkema was 3-5 with three runs scored.
Summer Jansen and Ashley Williams each had two this and De Roin and Jansen had two runs batted in.
Tianna Top got the win with two strikeouts and two earned runs allowed while scattering five hits.
