Dakota Wesleyan defeats Dordt 4-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dakota Wesleyan won a low scoring affair in game one of the doubleheader with Dordt in Mitchell, South Dakota on Thursday.
The hosts scored one in the second and then broke a 1-1 tie with three in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
Dordt got a run in the top of the fourth inning when Hailey Heeringa’s sacrifice fly scored Hannah Sikkema who doubled to lead off the inning.
All three runs in the sixth were unearned when an error led to three runs scoring with two outs.
Both teams had four hits.
Rachel Evavold had two hits.
Sikkema’s double was the only extra base hit of the game.
Evavold went the distance and allowed the one earned run with two strikeouts and one base on balls.
