Dordt defeats Dickinson State 7-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt scored the last five runs of the game against Dickinson State on Friday morning in Arizona and won a 7-2 verdict.
The Defenders scored two in the first inning on a pair of hits and an error that led to two unearned runs.
The Blue Hawks came back and scored one in the second and another in the third to tie the game but Dordt answered with two runs in the bottom of the third inning with Summer Jansen and Corinne May each getting a run batted in for a 4-2 lead.
Dordt scored another unearned run in the fourth inning and plated two runs in the fifth inning with Carley DeRoin’s double providing two runs batted in.
Marlia Mundorf allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings on the mound and walked one with one strikeout.
Marissa VandenBerg had three singles and two runs scored.
Summer Jansen had a single and a double with two runs batted in and Corinne May knocked in one run and had two singles.
Dordt had a 10-6 hits advantage.
