Dordt defeats Indiana Tech 8-4
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender softball team exploded for seven runs on six hits in the fifth inning to take a 7-1 lead on the way to an eventual 8-4 final score in a game played in Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, March 15.
Dordt got on the board with a two run homerun by Marissa Vanden Berg and Corinne May knocked in a run with a double and Hannah Sikkema cleared the bases with a double of her own.
Dordt added another run in the sixth inning and then allowed three runs in the seventh inning before taking the four run win.
Dordt had a 10-8 hits advantage.
VandenBerg and May were the only players with multiple hits for the Defenders with two each.
Sikkema produced three runs batted in with her pinch-hit double.
Tianna Top got the pitching win with two earned runs allowed with four strikeouts and one base on balls issued.
