Central Methodist (Missouri) defeats Dordt 95-86
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College Defenders lost a nine point decision to Central Methondist on Friday, November 17 at a classic hosted by Moody Bible College in Chicago, Illinois.
The Defenders surrendered the lead at 12-11 with 12:08 left in the first half and got down by as many as nine in the first half before narrowing the gap to 39-34 at halftime.
A run by the Defenders early in the second half trimmed the lead that had ballooned to nine again back to one on an Andrew O’Donnell field goal with 13:39 left in the game. A seven point run by Central Methodist got the lead back to eight.
The Defenders rallied again, tying the game at 64-64 with a three-point basket by Marcus Winterfeld with just over seven minutes left.
Again Central Methodist regained control, getting the lead back to six. Dordt would take a brief lead with 3:38 left at 78-76 and Josh Van Lingen put Dordt up 86-85 with 1:15 remaining. Back to back three-point baskets by Central Methodist put them up for good and the Eagles won the nine point decision.
Dordt was 33-63 from the field and 7-22 from the three-point line.
Central Methodist was 35-63 from the field and 8-13 from the arc.
Dordt was paced by Chandler Brunsting, Ben Gesink and Josh Van Lingen with 15 points each.
Alec Henrickson and Marcus Winterfeld each had nine points with Winterfeld assisting on four.
Chad Barkema and Andrew O’Donnell each had eight.
Accurate rebounding statistics were not available after the game.
Dordt will face Emmaus Bible on Saturday at 1:00.
The Defenders are 4-4 while Central Methodist is 6-0.
