Northern Illinois defeats Dordt 5-4
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Blades finished their season on Saturday, February 2 with a 5-4 loss to Northern Illinois on the road.
Mark Schouten and Willhelm Oppedyk started the scoring with a pair of goals in the first period and the Blades had a 2-0 lead going into the second period.
Jacob Petrie made it 3-0 for the Blades with 12:52 left in the second period. Northern Illinois got rolling with three goals in the remaining 10:22 of the period and the score was tied 3-3 going into the final period.
In the third period The Blades got a goal from Jesse Minderhoud with 11:30 remaining in the game for a 4-3 lead. The goal lead held until the 4:40 mark when the hosts tied it and Northern Illinois got the game winner with 58 seconds left to seal the win and get the weekend split.
Bryce Andry was in goal and made 28 saves as the Blades had a 52-33 shots on goal advantage.
The Blades conclude the season with a 6-20 mark.
