Dordt defeats South Dakota State 7-3
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blades never trailed in winning a 7-3 non-conference decision from South Dakota State on Saturday, January 20 in Brookings, South Dakota.
Mark Schouten started the scoring just 12 seconds into the contest and added two more off assists from Wilhelm Oppedyk and Jacob Petrie in the third and 12th minutes of competition after the Jackrabbits had tied the game.
Schouten and Oppedyk assisted on Jaren Brue’s goal at the 4:20 mark of the second period and the blitz was on with Thomas Soodsma score a goal near the end of the second period for a 5-2 lead. Schouten scored two more unassisted goals in the third period to make the final 7-3.
Schouten had five goals and an assist for the Blades and Petrie had two assists.
David Burns got the win in goal for the Blades who are now 5-15 overall.
Dordt hosts Nebraska on Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27 in its next action.
