Kansas defeats Dordt 14-3
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Blades hockey team showed the wear of back to back games against Kansas on Saturday afternoon and lost a 14-3 decision one day after playing the Jayhawks to a 7-6 overtime loss.
Dordt got on the board in the second period with a pair of Mark Schouten goals. The first came off an assist by Caleb Groot and the second was unassisted and made the score 6-2 after Kansas scored six in the first period.
Before the second period was over Dordt surrendered two more Kansas goals.
Caleb Groot got Dordt’s final goal in the third period with Schouten assisting. Kansas added five more goals in the final period for the 14-3 final.
Dordt was outshot 52-29.
Schouten has six goals in the first two games of the season.
Bryce Andry started the game in goal and gave way to David Burns. Burns faced 18 shots and Andry faced 26 shots. Burns came on six minutes into the second period.
The Blades are off until October 14 and 15 when they host Augustana (Illinois).
Kansas is now 5-2.
