Dordt defeats College of Saint Mary 2-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt scored an early goal and put the game away with a late goal to secure fourth place in the final GPAC women’s soccer standings with a 2-0 win over the College of Saint Mary on Saturday, October 28 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Kenzie Bousema scored the first goal of the day in the third minute of play off an assist by Natalie Sakuma and the score stood the rest of the half.
The Defenders were able to knock a second goal in with Natalie Sakuma getting the score in the 76th minute of play with Tori Mann accounting for the assist.
Dordt had a 10-5 shots on goal edge and a 25-8 overall shots advantage.
Dordt mustered a 6-3 corner kick edge.
Karlee Kuyvenhoven got the shutout in goal with five saves.
Sakuma’s goal was her ninth of the season and the assist her seventh.
Bousema’s goal was her ninth and she is tied for the team lead with Sakuma and Raquelle Mouw.
Tori Mann now has five assists which is second on the team to Sakuma’s seven.
Dordt is 12-6 overall and 7-3 in the GPAC.
The Defenders will host Northwestern in GPAC Quarterfinal round play on Thursday, November 2 in Sioux Center.

"The win over the College of Saint Mary was a great way to go into post-season play. Both goals were well earned in an extremely physical match. This win is the first against the College of Saint Mary in four years and the seniors were determined to avenge those losses so the motivation was high."
