Dordt defeats Morningside 3-1


The Dordt Defenders scored three first half goals and kept their hopes for a top-four GPAC finish with a 3-1 win over the Morningside Mustangs in Sioux City on Tuesday.

The Defenders scored a goal in the 18th minute as Kenzie Bousema knocked a shot in off an assist from Alaina Van Zalen.  Five minutes later it was Dallas Parker scoring on an unassisted goal in the 23rd minute. 

Van Zalen then got one through off a Mikaela Patterson goal in the 31st minute to effectively put the game out of reach.

Morningisde broke up the shutout with a goal in the 64th minute for the 3-1 final.


Dordt had a 10-7 shots on goal edge and controlled play with a 7-3 corner kick edge.

Belle Helgerson had seven saves for the win in goal.

Van Zalen now has four goals and four assists this season.

Kenzie Bousema has eight goals and stands second on the team.

The Dallas Parker goal was her second of the year.

Dordt is 11-6 this season and 6-3 in conference play.  Dordt can secure a GPAC Tournament Quarterfinal home contest with a win over the College of Saint Mary on Saturday, October 28 in Omaha.

Morningside is 4-5 in the league and 8-8 overall.
