Concordia defeats Dordt 1-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Concordia Bulldog women’s soccer team turned away Dordt in GPAC women’s play on Saturday, October 21 in Sioux Center. The game, a 1:00 scheduled start, was delayed an hour as a storm passed through Sioux Center.
Concordia made the most of limited shots on goal for a goal by Esther Soenksen in the 59th minute. The goal was an eventual game winner as Dordt was unable to get one through to tie the game in the final 31 minutes of play.
The Defenders had a shot carom off the post moments later and neither team was able to get off a shot in the final 31 minutes of regulation.
Dordt had a 6-2 shots on goal advantage and a 16-6 overall shots edge.
Belle Helgerson had one save in the loss.
Concordia had five corner kicks to Dordt’s two.
Alaina Van Zalen and Tori Mann each had two shots on goal.
The Concordia women improve to 8-0-1 in the GPAC and 12-2-3 overall.
Dordt slips to 5-3 in the league and 10-6 overall.
Dordt will be on the road for its remaining two contests with a Tuesday, October 24 contest with Morningside and a Saturday, October 28 match with the College of Saint Mary.
