Dordt defeats Doane 6-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender women’s soccer team won its fourth game in a row by shutout in a 6-0 victory over Doane on Saturday, October 7 in Crete, Nebraska.
Dordt struck first with a goal by Alaina Van Zanten in the 14th minute off an assist by Natalie Sakuma. Dordt’s second goal came off a penalty kick when Mikaela Patterson knocked it past the keeper for a 2-0 intermission lead.
Tori Mann got the scoring started in the 51st minute for a 3-0 lead and Natalie Sakuma got free for a pair of unassisted goals in the 53rd and 63rd minutes for a 5-0 lead and Jalissa De Haan’s goal in the 79th minute finished the scoring.
Dordt had a 14-4 shots on goal advantage and a 29-4 overall shots advantage.
Belle Helgerson had four saves in goal to secure the shutout.
This was Helgerson’s fourth shutout of the season and her goals allowed average is down to 0.821.
Sakuma has scored six goals and assisted on five.
Mann has five goals scored.
Dordt is 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the GPAC and will host Northwestern on Tuesday, October 10.
