Dordt defeats Briar Cliff 2-0


Dordt College rebounded from a 3-1 loss on Saturday to Hastings to secure a 2-0 road win over Briar Ciff in women’s soccer on Tuesday in Sioux City, Iowa.

Dordt scored the first goal of the game off a Kenzie Bousema shot in the 18th minute with Dallas Parker assisting for a 1—0 lead that stood to halftime as Dordt put five shots on goal in the first half of play.

Natalie Sakuma found the net in the 53rd minute and the teams were scoreless for the final 37 minutes as Dordt moved a game above .500 with the win.


Dordt outshot Briar Cliff 22-9 22-9 and on goal 12-4.

Bousema, Parker, Mikaela Patterson and Neila Kinsman all had two shots on goal.

Dordt had a 6-3 corner kick edge.

Belle Helgerson earned the shutout with three saves.

Bousema has five goals this season and Sakuma four.

Helgerson lowers her goals allowed per-90 minutes played average to 1.0.

Dordt is 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the GPAC.

Briar Cliff is 6-3 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Dordt will face Martin Luther (Minnesota) at home on Friday afternoon and will host Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday in GPAC play.
