HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College Defender women’s soccer team used a blistering attack in the second half to overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit and secured a lopsided 7-1 win over the host Presentation Saints.
Dordt allowed a goal in the tenth minute of play and neither team scored for the rest of the half.
Dordt got the equalizer on a Raquelle Mouw goal in the 54th minute off an assist by Mikaela Patterson and Patterson added a goal less than a minute later off an assist from Anisa Patterson.
The barrage continued with Mouw scoring her second goal of the game in the 55th minute for a 3-1 lead.
Natalie Sakuma assisted Tori Mann on a corner kick in the 64th minute and Anisa Patterson added a goal in the 80th minute for 5-1 lead.
Mouw finished the scoring with a pair of goals in the final ten minutes that were unassisted.
Dordt had a 42-5 shot advantage and a 27-4 shots on goal edge.
Mouw’s four goals gives her seven for the season.
Karlee Kuyvenhoven made two saves in goal.
Dordt had 12 shots on goal in the second half and forced 12 total corner kicks to one for the Saints.
Dordt is 4-3 and will host Hastings in conference play on Saturday.

“We struggled to connect in the first half. Presentation came out hard and we only found the back of the net in the second half. Three quick goals changed the momentum.”
