Jamestown defeats Dordt 1-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Jamestown Jimmie women’s soccer team turned away Dordt College 1-0 in non-conference soccer on Saturday afternoon in Jamestown, North Dakota.
The Jimmies made a goal in the 39th minute stand up as the hosts withstood the Dordt challenge in the second half as Dordt had five shots and all of them were on frame.
Dallas Parker had a pair of shots on goal in the final 15 minutes but the Defenders were unable to break through for the equalizer and Tori Mann and Natalie Sakuma each had shots on goal in the final two minutes that Lauren Sayler saved for Jamestown.
Dordt was outshot on goal 8-5.
Belle Helgerson had seven saves in goal for Dordt.
Jamestown had five corner kicks to a pair for the Defenders.
Dordt is now 3-3 and will face Presentation on September 23 in Aberdeen, South Dakota in what will be Dordt’s fourth road game in a row.
Jamestown was receiving votes in the most recent NAIA poll and is 5-2-1 this season.
This was Dordt’s third game decided by shutout and the Defenders are 2-1 in those contests.
