Dordt defeats Johnson and Wales 4-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Defenders surrendered a quick goal but bounced back to defeat Southwestern (Kansas) on Friday at Aurora, Colorado with a 4-1 decision.
Four different Defenders scored in the win after Southwestern scored 1:41 into the game.
Kenzie Bousema scored on an assist by Natalie Sakuma as Bousema snuck it by the right side of the goal keeper in the ninth minute.
19 minutes later Sakuma scored off a pass ahead by Tori Maan to give Dordt a lead that stood to halftime.
Raquelle Mouw was the recipient of a double assist from Alaina Van Zanten and Sakuma in the 88th minute to put the game out of reach and Mann had a goal for insurance off an assist by Mouw in the final minute of play.
Dordt had a 16-5 shots advantage and a 9-4 shots on goal edge.
Belle Helgerson made three saves in goal to secure the victory for Dordt.
The Defenders are 3-1 this season.
Dordt will face Johnson and Wales on Saturday afternoon at the Aurora Sports Complex.
