Dordt defeats Mount Marty 7-1

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt College men’s soccer team erupted for seven goals and earned a 7-1 victory over the Mount Marty Lancers in GPAC play on Wednesday afternoon in Yankton.

Garrett Goodson scored goals in the 13th and 69th minutes for the Defenders and Patrick Munsey added a goal in the 43rd that, at the time, made it 3-0 heading to halftime.  Jack McCool had the other Dordt goal with a score in the 25th minute.

Eric Bourdo started the scoring in the second half as Munsey assisted in the 50th minute and VJ Hachaba got on through in the 62nd minute with Goodson assisting.

Danny Mooers finished the Dordt scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute and Mount Marty averted the shutout with a goal in the 73rd minute.

THE NUMBERS

Dordt had a 31-14 shot advantage and put 18 shots on frame to five for the Lancers.

Seth Lewison had four saves to help the Defenders to the win.

Munsey’s three assists were his first of the year.

Goodson tops the team with nine goals and Faucett has seven.

Dordt is 8-8 this season and 2-5 in the GPAC.

The Defenders will host Concordia on Saturday in GPAC play.
