Dordt defeats Martin Luther 4-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders overcame a sluggish first half to defeat Martin Luther in non-conference play on Friday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt had a slight 3-2 first half shots advantage but neither team was able to find the goal. Jack McCool started the scoring with a goal in the 47th minute and VJ Hachaba followed suit with a goal in the 52nd minute.
Patrick Munsey gave the Defenders a goal for insurance in the 62nd minute and Garrett Goodson finished the scoring with a goal in the 82nd minute.
THE NUMBERS
Dordt had a 9-3 overall shots advantage and an 8-2 shots on goal edge.
Seth Lewison made two saves in goal to preserve the shutout.
McCool’s goal was his first of the season.
Goodson, Hachaba and Munsey now have five, four and three goals respectively.
Dordt is 6-5 this season and will face Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, September 30 in GPAC play.
COACH STIEMSMA SAID
“We played very well defensively and Jack McCool had a big goal for us and we really attacked well the entire second half. Our midfielders did a nice job of controlling play.”
