Dordt def. Presentation 3-0

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defenders controlled most of the contest and secured a short-handed 3-0 win over Presentation in non-conference play on Wednesday afternoon in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Dordt was playing without several regulars to get them back to full health before the GPAC season begins on Saturday.

CJ Schultz scored less than three minutes into the game after knocking a deflection by the Saints’ goalkeeper.

The score stayed 1-0 despite Dordt controlling play with a 6-3 corner kick advantage.

The Defenders broke through with a second goal in the 59th minute on an assist from Mika de Vin to Mason Faucett.  Patrick Munsey knocked in a rebound shot three minutes later to end the scoring.

THE NUMBERS

Dordt had a commanding 31-6 shots advantage and put 16 shots on goal in the second half while allowing Presentation no shots.

Dordt had a 17-3 corner kick edge.

Seth Lewison got credit for the shutout and made four saves in goal.

Mason Faucett has a team high six goals this season.

Dordt is 5-3 this year and will open GPAC play on Saturday against conference favorite Hastings College in Sioux Center.

COACH STIEMSMA SAID

“We had plenty of chances and we played really well in the second half after a sloppy start. We missed on several breakaways or the score could have looked way different. We dominated the entire second half. We had several guys out today so it was great to have guys step into new roles and play well.”
