Dordt defeats Buena Vista 4-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College men’s soccer team earned a 4-2 win over the Buena Vista Beavers on Friday afternoon in Sioux Center. The Defenders struck quickly and then had to score late to seal the win.
Dordt’s first goal came in the 12th minute when Garrett Goodson doing the honors and VJ Hachaba made it 2-0 in the 16th minute off an assist by Nathan Struyk.
Buena Vista scored the next two goals with Jared Dow getting it to 2-1 with a penalty kick in the 39th minute and Steve Nyaye tied during the first minute of play in the second half.
The teams played nearly 35 minutes of scoreless soccer before Jason Seeley found Patrick Munsey in the 81st minute and Mason Faucett gave the Defenders breathing room with a goal off an assist by Stephen Brinkerhoff in the 82nd minute.
Dordt had an 18-5 shots advantage and a 9-5 shots on goal edge.
Dordt had a 7-0 corner kick edge.
Seth Lewison had three saves for the Defenders.
Faucett’s goal was his team leading fifth of the year while Garrett Goodson now has four goals.
Dordt is 4-3 overall and will face Presention before opening the GPAC season on Saturday, September 23.
Buena Vista is now 3-4.

“Our passing was the best we have had all year. I saw a lot of good things. Jason Seeley gave us a huge lift. When VJ Hachaba went down he stepped up. We contained their quickness very well—it was a fun win.”
