Waldorf defeats Dordt 2-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College Defender men’s soccer team lost a 2-1 non-conference decision to Waldorf on Tuesday afternoon in Sioux Center.
The Warriors got on the board with a Jacob Harris goal in the 47th minute to break a scoreless tie. The goal came off a corner kick. The Warriors padded the lead to 2-0 in the 71st minute with Osman Toro scoring an unassisted goal.
The Defenders were able to make a game of it in the 76th minute when Mason Faucett found the goal off an assist by VJ Hachaba. Dordt mustered two more shots on goal in the final 14 minutes of play before falling 2-1.
Waldorf outshot Dordt 14-10 overall but Dordt had a 7-6 shots on goal advantage.
Seth Lewison started the game in goal for the Defenders and had three saves in 60 minutes. Zach Roberts played 21 minutes and allowed one goal and had one save.
Both teams had seven corner kicks.
Dordt is now 2-2 while Waldorf improves to 4-2 and has won three in a row.
Dordt travels to Denver on Friday and Saturday to face Southwestern (Kansas) and Johnson and Wales (Colorado).
