Lindenwood-Belleville defeats Dordt 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-10)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College went on the road and lost a 3-2 decision to Lindenwood-Belleville in men’s volleyball on the road on Thursday, March 9.
The Defenders let a 20-15 lead slip away in set one as the Lynx came back with a three point run to get within 20-18 and then won the set with a 7-0 run.
Set two saw Dordt get up 20-13 with Danny Beaton putting a kill away and Dordt went on to win the set unchallenged with a 25-19 decision to even the match. The Defeners won set three by an identical score of 25-19 after putting together a 4-1 run to finish it.
Dordt was up in set four 17-14 but the hosts came back to tie it 17-17. An attack error gave Dordt an 18-17 lead and the score was tied at 18, 19, 20 and 21 before the Lynx went on a 4-0 run to win the set and tie the match.
Set five was tied at 5-5 before a 4-0 run put the Lynx in control and they never led by less than three the rest of the set in winning 15-10.
-Dordt had a .159 kill efficiency while Lindenwood-Belleville had a .130 kill efficiency.
-Danny Beaton had 15 kills and Ben Tiemersma had nine kills.
-Alex Durbin and Tyler Postma each had six kills and Caleb Brandsma had five kills.
-Tyler Postma put up 31 assists and Mark Schussler recorded 18 digs.
-Dordt is now 1-11 and Lindenwood-Belleville is 4-12.
-Dordt will face Missouri Baptist on Friday.
