Grand View defeats Dordt 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-19)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt College was on the short end of a 3-0 men’s volleyball loss to the Grand View Vikings on Friday night in Des Moines. The Defenders closed the gap in each set but were unable to get over the hump against the highly regarded Viking team.
Dordt scored 12 in the first set, 16 in the second and 19 in the third in its first match of the season.
-Ben Tiemersma recorded seven kills on 23 swings and Alex Durbin had six kills on 12 attacks.
-Tyler Postma got credit for 13 assists and Marcus De Weerd had 12 digs.
-Dordt hit for an .014 kill efficiency and had four points on blocks.
-The Vikings had 39 kills and a .443 kill efficiency and had seven ace serves and also got four points on blocks.
-Dordt is 0-1 and will resume play next weekend with four matches at Park University.
-Grand View is 3-0 and ranked no. 2 in the country.

“A tough opponent for us to play as a season opener but also a great experience to get on the court and compete. Each set we grew in our skills and team systems. Our blocking had some bright spots tonight which was fun to see.”
