Dordt defeats Mount Marty 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 25-15)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt led almost the entire match on the way to a 3-0 win over the Mount Marty Lancers in GPAC volleyball on Wednesday, October 5 at Sioux Center.
Dordt got up 18-8 in set one and had little trouble in putting the Lancers away 25-14. Set two was more of the same as Dordt got up 5-0 with Brooke Granstra recording a pair of kills and the lead eventually grew to 14-5. The Defenders took a 2-0 lead in the match as they won 25-11 as Mount Marty was unable to put together a charge.
Set three featured three early ties and the Lancers led 7-6. Three straight points with Julia Lindbergh recording two of the points on kills gave the Defenders the lead for good and the Defenders built a 17-10 lead with a six point run on the way to a 25-15 win.
-Dordt hit for a .462 kill efficiency while limiting Mount Marty to .128.
-Brooke Granstra had 13 kills and one error on 17 total attacks.
-Julia Lindbergh had nine kills against no errors and Elizabeth Kiel had eight kills with no errors on ten attacks.
-Haley Moss had six kills against no errors and had 13 attacks.
-Jamie Gesink had a match high 38 assists with two kills, a service ace and seven digs.
-Jill Schouten had a team high nine digs.
-Dordt is 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the GPAC.
-Dordt will host the College of Saint Mary on Friday afternoon at 3:00 and no. 2 ranked Westmont Friday night at 8:00.

“This was a very clean match for us. Efficiency is a term that comes to mind as we played clean offense and quick transition defense. There were many bright spots and it was fun to get everyone into the match.”
