Dordt defeats Calvary 106-54
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt College men’s basketball team took the suspense out of its game early with Calvary Bible College on Saturday, October 29 in Sioux Center. Dordt led 59-21 at halftime on the way to the 106-54 win.
Dordt went on a 10-0 run early in the game to go up 13-2 with Dalton Franken capping the run with a basket at the 15:52 mark. The lead was single digits twice after that and ballooned to 20 points on a pair of Taylor Feenstra free throws with 8:24 left in the half for a 33-12 lead.
Substituting liberally, the Defenders were able to maintain the 40 point lead that eventually grew to the final of 106-54.
Feenstra had 16 points and nine rebounds with three steals.
Dalton Franken scored 14 and Zach Bussard came off the bench to score 12 and grab eight reobunds.
Alex Terpstra and Leighton Sampson each ahd nine points and Sampson had eight reboudns with two blocked shots and two steals.
Marcus Winterfeld had seven points, seven rebounds and three assists and Chandler Brunsting and Josh Van Lingen each had seven points with Va Lingen taking down seven rebounds. Danny Voss had a team high five assists.
Dordt converted 36-89 shots for 40 percent success and Dordt was 10-27 on three-point shots while holding a lopsided 73-25 rebounding advantage.
Calvary was 19-54 from the field and was forced into 23 turnovers.
Dordt will travel to Madison, South Dakota to face Dakota State on Tuesday night, November 1 as part of a women’s and men’s basketball doubleheader. Dordt returns home to play home games on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5.
