Dordt defeats Dakota Wesleyan 3-0

The Dordt Defender baseball team earned a sweep of the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in GPAC baseball on Monday night in Sioux Center with a 3-0 game two win.

Dordt got single runs in the first, second and fifth innings in support of Brandon Fokkema’s complete game three-hitter.

Dordt’s first run came when Jake Thayer, Taylor Neuroth and Cam Gingerich all singled in succession in the bottom of the first inning.  Thayer scored on Gingerich’s single up the middle.

Glen Thompson knocked in a run with a single in the second inning and the 2-0 score held up into the fifth inning when Taylor Neuroth was hit by a pitch, stole second and third and on the steal of third scored on a wild throw. Dordt had the bases loaded in the inning but was unable to do any more damage with a double play finishing the frame.

Dordt had an 8-3 hits advantage and took advantage of two Wesleyan errors.

Colton Van Otterloo had Dordt’s only multiple hit game and all of Dordt’s hits were singles.
