Concordia defeats Dordt 11-3
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Concordia Bulldogs used an eight run sixth inning to forge an 11-3 win over the Dordt Defenders in game two of their doubleheader.
Dordt scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning with Zach Fowler pushing a run in with a sacrifice fly. Concordia answered with a run in the fourth inning and added two more in the fifth inning for a 3-1 lead.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the sixth inning with eight runs on four hits and a pair of errors.
Jake Thayer made it 11-3 with a two-run homerun in the seventh with Parker Schutt on base and that’s how the game ended.
Concordia outhit Dordt 10-7.
Tyler Wiedner took the loss with five innings pitched and allowed three runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
Cole Vande Vegte and Austin Fokkema worked the sixth inning in relief.
Colton Van Otterloo and Trent Roose each had two hits and Van Otterloo scored a run.
Thayer’s homerun was the first of the season for him.
Dordt is 12-19 overall and 5-9 in the GPAC. Concordia is 21-14 and 10-4 in the GPAC.
Dordt will play at Dakota Wesleyan on Thursday, April 13 in a GPAC doubleheader.
